Individual successes for 1st and 2nd XI players

As we head into September, we enjoyed some special performances from members of the 1st and 2nd XIs this Saturday.

The 1s welcomed title chasing Tong Park Esholt CC to Coutances Way, and having been sent in to bat, honours board regulars, Forrest Hamilton and Sam Housam batted beautifully together for the second wicket, putting on 62 and 83 respectively, putting Rhydding in a strong position as we entered the final third of the innings. Then the fireworks started, as Henry Barrow came to the crease, hitting 34 in one over, on way to his maiden League century, finishing on 103 not out.

Our total of 269 looked competitive, and the wickets fell consistently in their reply, with that man Henry Barrow, finishing on 5-46, whilst Nick Smith took 4-64, to give us a maximum 20 points.

Further down the valley, at Green Lane, an understrength 2nd XI lost out to hosts Green Lane CC, but not before another half century for a 2nd XI batter, as James Tate made his maiden 50, finishing on 57.

Congratulation to all those who made the board this week.

Jim Tate
