Rhydding girl done good!

Throughout September, we’ve been showing our support for #WomensCricketMonth. We’ve enjoyed an girls U9s match against our friends and local rivals Olicanian CC, whilst a couple of our promising junior girls had a net with the 2nd XI, and showed why within the next year or so, they will be given chances to develop into Senior cricket, within our senior sides.

However, perhaps we’ve saved the best to last, with the opportunity to shine the light on a former Rhydding player, who is doing great things in the professional game.

It wasn’t so long ago that Phoebe Graham was representing BRCC in both our Women’s and Girls and Senior sides. On Sunday, she’ll be part of the Northern Diamonds squad taking on Southern Vipers in the final of this summer’s Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy final, held at Edgbaston.

Having broken into the Diamond’s side this summer, Phoebe’s taken her first professional wickets against Thunder, and hit the winning runs against Lightning, during the Diamonds run to the final, winning 5 from 6. She’s also documented the journey in a terrific blog for Sky Sports, which you can catch up on here.

Needless to say, all of us at BRCC will be rooting for the Diamond’s and their opening bowler on Sunday, and we’re just thrilled at what she’s achieving on a national level, within this terrific game of ours.

See how Phoebe and the rest of the Diamonds get on, in The Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy final between Northern Diamonds and Southern Vipers, starting at 10.30am on Sunday.
