BRCC 2nd XI vs Menston CC

Memories, We make them all the time, but occasionally a special year comes along. 7 years ago I started playing cricket again for Ben Rhydding after a gap of 37 years. At the age of 14 (1975) I played cricket for the first time for burley CC against Menston CC and for the occasion I wore my Dad’s Almondbury Grammer school red cricket cap. Winning the under 14 Wharfedale league. (The following year I joined Ben Rhydding CC)

45 years later playing cricket again at Menston and with the passing of my Dad (Keith) in January this year I wore the school cap again in his memory.

Ben Rhydding team mates and supporters made the afternoon’s cricket a very memorable day for me, thank you, one I will treasure for years to come. My Dad was nearly 85 when he passed away, and I’m sure he would have been watching from above. As a boy he passed his 11+ to go to the Grammer school, and played cricket football tennis and swimming for the school.

Note, I guess the school cricket cap is around 74 years old!!!! And I wore it all day in his memory.
