Underwater again…

Bowling first kinda pitch...

We’re sorry to report that Coutances Way was once again underwater this morning, following another weekend of torrential rain across the Wharfe valley.

Most of the cricket square and outfield was underwater, along with much of the wider sports club grounds. The garages, scorebox and nets were also flooded, with the latter two also taking on structural damage due to high winds.

Thankfully the clubhouse flood defences which were installed following the Boxing Day floods of 2015 did their job, thanks to the efforts of Peter Taylor.

We’ll asses the full extent of the damage in the coming days, but have already been contacted by the Yorkshire Cricket Board, with regards to financial support they can offer for flood hit clubs.

With further storms forecast in the coming weeks, watch this space…
