U9s ready for Peter Rowney comp!

The BRCC U9s are ready to take part in the League’s annual Peter Rowney Kwik Cricket competition, this Sunday, at Rawden CC.

The League explain…

“Peter Rowney was a member of Rawdon Cricket Club and played for them over many seasons. After his playing days were over he became a valued member of the Rawdon Committee and the League Umpires Panel, serving in those capacities until he sadly collapsed and died whilst watching a Rugby League Match at Old Trafford in 2005. It is the wish of his wife and family that part of the money collected at his funeral be donated to the Senior Cricket League for the encouragement of Junior Cricket. This Festival is the League Management’s way of fulfilling their wishes, and has become a successful annual event.”

With a meet time of 9.40, BRCC’s first match is against Adel CC at 10.00am, before we take on Burley CC, New Rover CC and Ilkley CC.

The programme for the event can be found here.

Good luck to our U9s, and thanks as ever to Louise Atherton, for co-ordinating the event on behalf of the Club.
