The Rattlesnakes make the semis!

The Rhydding Rattlesnakes have progressed to the semi-finals of the Awards Galore cup, with what ended up a comfortable win over local rivals Olicanian CC.

Batting first, the Rattlesnakes had a shaky start, with hard hitting Struan Connor dismissed caught and bowled first ball. However, opening partner Henry Barrow got the home team going with a swift 37, along with a quick fire 33 off 29 balls from Sam Housam. Sam’s departure brought Robbie Miller to the crease, who preceded to smashed 57 off just 27 balls, including six sizes, helping us to 152-6 from our twenty.

After the swap over, Rhydding’s attack kept the Olis in check throughout their innings, with Henry Barrow going for just 9 off his 4 overs, and Rob Withers taking 2-13 from 4. Charlie Hatton chipped in with an important wicket, before skipper Alex Miller brought himself on, to further squeeze the run-rate, and claim two wickets for 16. Younger brother Robbie was then thrown the ball, who backed up his half ton with two wickets of his own, as our friends up the valley finished well short of our total, with 102-8.

So onto the semi-finals we slither, with Calverley CC hosting both matches on 14th July, with the Rattlesnakes starting at 1.30pm against Saltaire CC, before Colton CC play the hosts themselves, in the second semi-final at 4.30pm.

Needless to say, every ounce of support that we can offer the boys on the day will be of huge value, with a number of the guys commenting what a difference it made having plenty of vocal support behind them during the quarter final victory.

So get yourselves down to Calverley on the next month, and let’s do everything we can to help the Rattlesnakes move one step closer to some silverware for season 2019!
