Junior Exhibition Match big success!

The combined U9s and U11s remain shy and retiring for the photoshoot...

The BRCC U9s took on the U11s, in an end of Junior season Exhibition Match at Countances Way tonight.

Organised by Junior coach Jim Tate, the evening saw parents from both teams on hand to enjoy the BBQ, bar and cricket, whilst U9s coach ‘wore’ the white coat, umpiring for the night.

The event allowed the U9s to get their first taste of ‘hard ball’ cricket, padding up, and wearing the helmets for the first time, before many of them moved up to the U11s next season. It also gave those interested in getting involved with junior cricket the opportunity to get take a look at this game of ours.

With a number of Rhydding first teamers on hand to cast an eye over the next generation, the event was a huge success, where a good time was had by all. Burgers were consumed, drinks served at the bar, and a few quid raised for the Club, but most importantly, the event once again showcased the unique community spirit, which only a local sports club can offer.

The serious stuff gets underway...
