Details confirmed of BRCC Vs YVICC match!

After months of planning, details have been released of the upcoming match between Yorkshire Visually Impaired Cricket Club and a Ben Rhydding Cricket Club XI in May.

Yorkshire Visually Impaired Cricket Club (YVICC – Details HERE) promise to field a number of former England Internationals in their XI, along with some promising youngsters, whilst BRCC will field a representative XI, all of whom will be new to this form of cricket. Whilst International visually impaired cricket is played with a ball similar in size to the one familiar to most of us, visually impaired county cricket is played with a size 3 football, filled with ball bearings, and this is what will be used on May 3rd at Countances way.

The match will be a 1.00 start, T20 game, with ‘lunch’ after, just in time to catch the ‘Tour de Yorkshire’ as it passes through Ilkley later. The BRCC XI will include representatives from our 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Women & Girls teams, with the Club also providing League accredited umpires. Spectators will receive a match programme, which includes details of the one off trophy, crafted exclusively for the winners of the match. The whole event is sponsored by one of our Club supporters, Greenholme Mills Carpet Centre, of Burley-In-Wharfedale.

Along with the match itself, there will be a BBQ and bar all afternoon, and Kwik Cricket for kids. We warmly invite the Ilkley and surrounding community to come along, witness a form of cricket new to most of us, have a few drinks, and support the cricket club.
