Annual Golf Day big success!

Now into its second year, the BRCC Golf Challenge got underway at Bracken Ghyll Golf Club in early afternoon today, as 11 four-balls (With the odd three) teed off at 10 minute intervals, all hoping to collect the ‘Hallas Trophy’.

The forecast was not good, but we were lucky, as other than a 30 minute period of pretty heavy rain, the afternoon stayed mostly dry, showcasing the international quality golf on display.

By the time the final team completed the 18th hole, the sun was out, and we all enjoyed a drink on the terrace outside the clubhouse, before dashing back to Countances Way, for a fish supper courtesy of Grandpa Nicholls, and the presentations. Whilst the redevelopment work following December’s floods isn’t quite complete, it was great to be back in the Sport Club clubhouse, where we represented the first ‘official’ event in the renovated bar and main room.

Stewart Miller collects the Hallas Trophy from Club Chairman, and event organiser, Robin Snook

To the presentations - Last year’s winners, featuring the Oldham boys, collected their prizes for second place, but were beaten this time out by Stewart Miller’s four ball, which somewhat deviously, included the Club Pro from Bracken Ghyll! Finally, Peter Taylor’s team sheepishly collected their loser prizes – A set of ‘ladies’ golf balls each…

Many thanks to our hosts for the day, Bracken Ghyll Golf Club, to all who got involved on the day, to support the Club, and of course, to Robin Snook, for organising the whole event – Hands down, best golf event we’ve had this year!
