Boys done good…

A frustrating weekend for the Club on the pitch, with the 1st XI just losing out in a thriller at home to Thackley and the 2nd XI were well beaten away at Calverley, whilst the 3rd XI and Women & Girls games were both called off.

However, BRCC did enjoy one victory – As the combined BRCC U15/U17s Lads scored a famous win against… the BRCC U15/U17s Dads!

Batting first, Brent Thompson’s ‘Dads’ (Including one ‘Grandad’!) posted 97 off their 16 overs, including 23 from Neil Hatton. The Dads innings also saw the match highlight, with Stuart McKinnon-Evans run out by a sensational direct hit… from his son Sam!

After a quick turnaround, the ‘Lads’ set about the run chase. Both Jack Farmery (The Lad’s slipper) and Charlie Hatton hit 22, taking the Lads a long way towards their target. Despite Brent taking three catches (2 of which stood, with one falling foul of the ‘Can’t be out first ball’ rule…), the Lads cruised past the Dad’s total with overs to spare, eventually going on to reach 119, having been left to play out their 16.

So the ‘next generation’ hold the bragging rights over the family dinner tables tonight, and more than likely, it will be mentioned once or twice in the coming weeks!
